Portrait of Alice Guy
Alice Guy

I'm doing a series of blogs over on the Alice Guy website on films that have been made available to the public only recently.

In August of 2012 I posted a blog entitled Films by Alice Guy Lost and Found.

My documentary, Bare Hands and Wooden Limbs, has finally found a distributor, Shami Media.

Thanks to my sales agent, Carlos Alperin of Galloping Film Productions.

Bare Hands and Wooden Limbs won Best Directing for short and medium length documentaries at the 14th International Documentary Festival Santiago Álvarez in Memoriam on March 9th, 2015, in  Santiago de Cuba.

My screenplay, White Rum, is a quarterfinalist in the Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition. Semi-finalists will be announced on March 3rd.

Here's my favorite quote from the notification letter:

The competition was fierce and you should be very proud to be amongst the top 20% of the more than 1,500 screenplay entries we received. 325 scripts are now advancing to the next round of the competition in 10 different categories.

I was very surprised to find out that the Outlander romance/time travel series based on the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon, set and shot entirely in Scotland, is not airing in the UK.

The series is now into its third week in the U.S. It's lush, historically rich,  and sexy. Women all over the U.S. are glued to it on Starz on Saturday nights while their husbands go unfed and their children play in traffic.

I've written a guest blog for Erin Enberg on the film Edge of Tomorrow and the book it was based on, All You Need is Kill. Here is a taste of it:

On November 9th I gave a workshop on book trailers for the Florida Romance Writers, my local RWA chapter. The workshop was an updated version of the workshop Mary Burns and I gave at the Historical Novel Society Conference in St. Petersburg in June.

The workshop is entitled Book Trailers: From Powerpoint to Ipad apps. Here is the workshop description:
