Imprinted is one of top ten finalists in Writer's On The Storm Contest

It's one of those moments that gets branded on your brain forever.

I'm out in Los Angeles, attending the American Film Market, peddling my completed documentary Bare Hands, Wooden Limbs, and my three screenplays, the thrillers Heaven Sent,  and Girl in Trunk (both written with John Leary) and my sci fi action script, Imprinted.

I took an evening out from the relentless selling and market oriented schmoozing to have dinner with an old friend, Paul Gulino, author of that most excellent book, Screenwriting: The Sequence Approach.

In the middle of dinner the phone rang. I apologized and was about to silence it when I noticed that it was an unknown number in an L.A. area code. Could it be a call from someone I had sent one of the scripts to? The only way to know was to answer.

Good thing I did! The caller was Jim Cirile of the Writers on the Storm contest, letting me know my script imprinted was now in the top ten! I'm now in the running for the $10,000 grand prize or any of the other prizes.

To quote Sally Field: "You like me, you really like me!"

If you want to know who the other finalists are, the blog announcement is here. My friend John Flynt made honorable mention with his historical thriller, Silence.
